My love for words is twofold, those written and those sung. Using Saidandsung as a moniker takes the focus off me as a copywriter and artist and places it on the messages themselves.
In my 13 years of writing and editing experience, Iʼve worked in all types of media: from newspaper writing and editing to TV/radio ad writing to social networking and customer service management to writing feature stories for a business magazine to songwriting and sentiment writing. Some of the firms Iʼve worked for include Manhattan Media, Dada Entertainment, Rising Media Group, American Greetings Inc., WJET-TV 24, Fox Sports Ohio and The New York Amsterdam News.
Born in Erie, Pa., my song "From You I Learned" won first prize in the ASCAP/Lilith Fair Songwriting Competition. Shortly after, I moved to New York City to pursue my writing interests. A member of the BMI Lehman Engel Musical Theatre Workshop (Advanced), my lyrics have been performed in benefits and concerts throughout New York City and regionally, including the York Theater’s NEO 2 Concert; the 21st Annual NAMT Festival of New Musicals; the 17th Annual NAMT Songwriter’s Showcase; Monday Nights, New Voices at the Duplex; Arts and Artists at the NYPL; BMI; Unsung at the Zipper Theatre; Musical Mondays Musicals Tonight; the Pittsburgh CLO Cabaret; and Baldwin-Wallace College.
I carry a double degree in English and broadcasting, as well as a minor in music, from Baldwin-Wallace. Since my interests lie in many fields, my writing has more breadth, and my research and editing skills are razor-sharp. Not only is music a big part of my life, but I’m also a big college football and college basketball fan, I participate in team sports, I’m a theatre person, I’m a foodie, I read as much as I can and I’m a dog-lover.
I also teach kids ages 3 and up how to sing, act and dance. It really is exciting to inspire children to dream, and the things that they say on a week-to-week basis always keep it fun and interesting!
